“Stellantis Recalls 1.3M Jeeps Over Fire Risk”

Stellantis announced a global recall of over 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to fire risks and advised owners to park in safe locations until the necessary repairs are completed. The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from 2021 to 2025, with an issue identified in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring that could potentially cause overheating of combustible materials and trigger a vehicle fire in rare instances.

The recall spans approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the U.S., 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other international markets. Stellantis disclosed that the remedy will entail inspections and potential repairs or replacements of the wiring harness or electric hydraulic power steering pump. The company is striving to expedite the availability of the fix and expects to have it in place by July at the latest.

While Stellantis acknowledged one reported injury linked to the issue, there have been no reported accidents or fatalities related to the problem.
