Sarah Nurse netted two goals and Tereza Vanisova contributed a goal and an assist to lead the Vancouver Goldeneyes to a 5-0 victory over the Toronto Sceptres in their first PWHL home win of 2026. The Goldeneyes surged ahead with three goals in the second period, including quick unassisted goals by Nurse and Vanisova just 11 seconds apart.
Izzy Daniel and Abigail Boreen also found the back of the net for Vancouver, with goaltender Kristen Campbell recording 24 saves for her first shutout of the season against her former team. Toronto’s Elaine Chuli made 23 saves in the losing effort, as the Sceptres suffered their sixth loss in the last seven games.
Daniel scored early in the second period after a well-executed give-and-go with Jenn Garnder, with Chuli initially stopping the shot but Daniel capitalizing on the rebound for her third goal of the season. Vanisova extended Vancouver’s lead to 2-0 with a wraparound goal at 13:31, followed by Nurse’s impressive shot from the faceoff circle.
Nurse delighted the crowd by adding another goal early in the third period. The game marked a rematch of the Sceptres’ recent 2-1 overtime victory against the Goldeneyes in Toronto.
In other highlights, forward Anna Meixner made an impactful debut for the Goldeneyes following her trade from Ottawa, earning an assist. The game was Vancouver’s last home match before the Olympic break.
On the Sceptres’ side, defender Kali Flanagan faced an early disruption in the first period when her rush was halted by running into a linesman. The Sceptres will return to Vancouver for a game against the Goldeneyes following the Olympic break.
A key moment in the game came when Campbell made a crucial save against Toronto’s Daryl Watts on a breakaway opportunity after Daniel’s goal. Nurse’s return from injury has seen her score three goals in just two games.
Looking ahead, the Goldeneyes will travel to face the Seattle Torrent in Denver as part of the Takeover Tour, while the Sceptres will visit the Montreal Victoire next.
