The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued a recall for a shipment of No Name frozen beef patties due to potential E. coli contamination. These affected burgers were distributed nationwide in 1.36 kg packages labeled with a best before date of May 5, 2026.
Consumers are urged to discard the impacted product immediately or return it to the store of purchase and refrain from cooking or consuming the burgers. E. coli O157:H7, if present, may not exhibit visible signs of spoilage, yet it can cause illness.
Symptoms of E. coli infection may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea ranging from watery to bloody. In severe instances, individuals could suffer from complications like stroke or kidney issues. No illnesses related to this recall have been reported so far, but the CFIA is conducting further investigations and may expand the recall to other products.
