Céline Dion has made a comeback with the release of a new single on Friday, stepping back into the spotlight with a romantic French-language ballad titled “Dansons,” which translates to “Let’s dance” in English. The accompanying music video is filled with romantic scenes set in Paris, showcasing different couples dancing freely in public spaces.
This release precedes Dion’s return to the stage with 16 upcoming shows at the Paris La Défense Arena from September 12 to October 17. Speculation about her comeback was confirmed after mysterious signs featuring lyrics from Dion’s popular songs such as “My Heart Will Go On” and “The Power of Love” appeared around Paris.
Written by renowned songwriter Jean-Jacques Goldman, “Dansons” is Dion’s first French release in over a decade and her first original song in years. Her most recent work was in 2023 for the film soundtrack of “Love Again.” The collaboration with Goldman dates back to their work on Dion’s “Encore un soir” in 2016 and her 1995 album “D’eux,” which remains the best-selling French-language album of all time.
Health issues, particularly her battle with stiff person syndrome, forced Dion to cancel her Courage world tour in 2023. This rare neurological disorder, affecting only a few individuals worldwide, impacted her singing ability. Following a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dion made her public singing comeback in July 2024 with a performance at the Olympic Games’ opening ceremony in Paris, followed by a show in Riyadh honoring designer Elie Saab.
This latest release and upcoming performances mark a significant return for Céline Dion, who has faced health challenges but continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her music and performances.
