Despite a two-week ceasefire agreement brokered by Pakistan between the United States and Iran, the conflict in Lebanon shows no signs of abating. The ceasefire aimed to pause the hostilities that began with attacks on Iran by the U.S. and Israel, prompting retaliatory strikes by Hezbollah in Lebanon and leading Iran to partially close the Strait of Hormuz, impacting global energy markets.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Wednesday that the ceasefire would not impede Israel’s operations in Lebanon, a sentiment echoed by U.S. President Donald Trump who emphasized that Hezbollah remains a target despite the ceasefire.
