Two London-based hockey talents express their excitement at fulfilling their childhood aspirations of representing Canada at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy. Julia Gosling and Ella Shelton, former players for the London Devilettes, have been selected as part of Team Canada’s 26-player roster for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games commencing on February 6.
Shelton, a defenseman for the Toronto Sceptres in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL), described the moment she received the news as unforgettable. Reflecting on her childhood dreams of donning the Team Canada jersey, Shelton expressed her joy at the opportunity to compete at the highest level of international competition once again.
Having previously clinched a gold medal at the 2022 Beijing Games, Shelton aims to defend the championship title this year. On the other hand, Gosling, a forward for the Seattle Torrent, is set to make her Olympic debut and is looking forward to the entire experience of the Games, including the village atmosphere and the opening ceremonies.
Both players have found the support from fans and the hockey community overwhelming while participating in the PWHL. Shelton, who scored the first-ever PWHL goal in 2024 when playing for New York, anticipates a competitive edge against her American teammates turned rivals on the ice.
