“Wile E. Coyote Sues Acme in New Film”

In his lengthy pursuit of the elusive Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote has tried countless gadgets provided by the Acme Corporation. However, a new perspective suggests that the company’s faulty products may be to blame for his continuous failures. This concept forms the basis of the film “Coyote vs. Acme,” where the protagonist seeks legal action against Acme for the physical hardships he has endured using their items.

The movie, which was initially completed in 2023 but faced delays, is set to premiere in theaters this Friday. To honor the film’s themes, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite movies critical of capitalism over the past four decades.

“RoboCop” (1987) envisions a future where a corporation controls the police force, showcasing the struggle of the titular man-machine against corporate greed. “They Live” (1988) reveals a world where aliens manipulate humans into consumerism and conformity. “Fight Club” (1999) explores anti-capitalist sentiments through underground activities challenging societal norms. “Michael Clayton” (2007) exposes corporate cover-ups and the lengths they will go to protect their interests. “WALL-E” (2008) portrays a future overrun by consumerism and environmental degradation. “Sorry to Bother You” (2018) satirizes capitalism through the story of a telemarketer’s rise to success. Lastly, “How to Blow Up a Pipeline” (2022) follows a group’s radical environmental activism against the fossil fuel industry.

These films offer thought-provoking critiques of capitalism and corporate influence in society, resonating with audiences seeking alternative perspectives on modern economic structures.
