Former Sail Canada high-performance director, Mike Milner, has received a four-month suspension as part of the national Abuse-Free Sport Program. This disciplinary action was announced on January 8 via the public registry managed by the Office of the Sports Integrity Commissioner.
Sail Canada confirmed that Milner departed from his position in September 2024 and is no longer associated with the organization. The sanction imposed on him by the Office of the Sport Integrity Commissioner, as listed in the Abuse-Free Sport Registry, pertains to allegations of Aiding and Abetting, Neglect, and Psychological Maltreatment following an independent investigation. The specific incident leading to the sanction was not disclosed in the registry.
In response to these developments, Sailing Canada appointed a new high-performance director last year to replace Milner, who had served in the role for six and a half years. The responsibility for maintaining the registry is being transitioned from OSIC to Sport Integrity Canada, previously known as the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport.
Sport Integrity Canada has been overseeing the management of investigations related to complaints and reports of abuse or maltreatment in sports since April 1, 2025. Under the Canadian Safe Sport Program, Sport Integrity Canada enforces the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS). The registry functions as a repository of individuals who have faced sanctions or provisional sanctions under the UCCMS.
