Mystery Surrounds Death of Giant Shark in Nova Scotia

In northern Nova Scotia, researchers are still investigating the cause of death of a large great white shark that washed up near Pictou. The 580-kilogram male shark was found on a beach, prompting a weekend necropsy by the Marine Animal Response Society. Dr. Laura Bourque from the Canadian Wildlife Health Co-operative in P.E.I. mentioned that no clear reason for the shark’s death was determined, and further tests are required. Experts noted that conservation efforts have aided the recovery of the great white shark population after a significant decline in the 1970s and 1980s. They also highlighted how climate change has led to warmer ocean temperatures, facilitating the northward expansion of certain marine species.
