Alina Müller contributed a goal and an assist, while Shay Maloney also found the net as the Boston Fleet secured a 2-1 victory over the Toronto Sceptres in Lowell, Massachusetts, on Wednesday evening.
Boston, with Aerin Frankel making 21 saves, continues to lead the PWHL this season with 26 points. Montreal and Minnesota are currently tied for second place with 19 points each.
Toronto, on the other hand, saw Emma Maltais score in the final minutes of the game, but it wasn’t enough to halt their losing streak, now standing at four consecutive defeats.
The first period remained scoreless with Boston registering 11 shots and the Sceptres nine. However, Müller broke the deadlock just 45 seconds into the second period by redirecting a shot from Haley Winn into the back of the net, marking her second goal of the season.
Maloney extended Boston’s lead to 2-0 with 3:06 left in the game by capitalizing on her own rebound, sealing the victory for the Fleet. Raygan Kirk made 18 saves for the Sceptres during the match.
Looking ahead, the Toronto Sceptres will host Vancouver on Saturday, while the Boston Fleet will travel to face Seattle on Sunday.
