“Heated Rivalry” Dominates Canadian Fiction Bestseller List

Presenting the top-selling Canadian fiction, nonfiction, and children’s books for the week of Jan. 10-17.

The bestselling lists are curated by Bookmanager, utilizing weekly sales data from over 260 independent bookstores across Canada.

Canadian fiction

Rachel Reid’s “Heated Rivalry” takes the lead as the most popular Canadian fiction title, with four other books from her Game Changer series making it to the top 10.

This 2019 romance novel, which inspired a successful TV series, narrates the love story between rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Hollander represents the fictional Montreal Voyageurs, while Rozanov plays for the Boston Bears.

Despite excelling in their careers, their hidden romance evolves into something deeper. As their bond strengthens, they must make a tough choice between their passion for the game and their feelings for each other.

The TV adaptation of the series, helmed by director Jacob Tierney from Montreal, premiered on Crave in November and has garnered significant viewership. “Heated Rivalry” has also secured a spot on the Canada Reads 2026 longlist.
