Every Year After, the TV series on Prime Video inspired by Carley Fortune’s popular romance book Every Summer After, has been confirmed for a second season. The show, featuring Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett and executive produced by Carley Fortune, premiered earlier this summer.
The plot of Every Summer After revolves around Percy and Sam, childhood friends whose relationship was fractured by a pivotal event that separated them, leading to a complex love story when they reunite years later at a funeral.
The upcoming season of Every Year After will draw from One Golden Summer, the second novel in Fortune’s series set in Barry’s Bay, Ontario. In this installment, Sam’s brother, Charlie, takes center stage in a long-awaited romantic storyline.
One Golden Summer follows Alice, a photographer seeking a tranquil summer at her childhood cabin with her grandmother. However, her plans are disrupted when Charlie, charismatic and hard to overlook, unexpectedly shows up. As Alice navigates this unexpected reunion, she begins to question if this summer might bring more than she anticipated.
Peter Friendlander, Prime Video’s global TV chief, expressed enthusiasm for the remarkable reception of Every Year After, highlighting the widespread appeal of Carley Fortune’s storytelling and the strong connection viewers have developed with the Barry’s Bay setting.
Carley Fortune, a prominent author and journalist based in Toronto, has an impressive portfolio that includes bestselling titles like Meet Me at the Lake, Every Summer After, One Golden Summer, This Summer Will Be Different, and Our Perfect Storm. Meet Me at the Lake was a finalist on Canada Reads in 2024, supported by fashion influencer Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel to feature on the program.
Every Year After is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
