The Toronto District School Board and Toronto Catholic District School Boards have announced that schools will resume normal operations on Tuesday following a closure on Monday due to a record-breaking snowfall over the weekend. Both boards have informed parents, guardians, and students that efforts have been made to clear snow from school premises and administrative locations.
Although schools will be open, the TDSB cautioned that navigating sidewalks, parking lots, and walkways around schools may be challenging due to the substantial snow accumulation and ongoing snow clearing operations by the TDSB and City of Toronto. Parents and caregivers are advised to allow extra time for travel to school, as school bus delays are also expected.
The Toronto Catholic District School Board confirmed through social media that schools and buses will be operational on Tuesday, but delays should be anticipated. Child-care services and before and after-school programs will be available, although permits have been cancelled.
In addition, the York Region District has announced that its schools will be open on Tuesday. The City of Toronto also stated on social media that its 39 child care centers will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
