High school senior hockey player Colin Dorgan, who tragically lost three family members in a recent Rhode Island ice rink shooting, scored the winning goal in double overtime on Wednesday, propelling the Blackstone Valley Co-op team into the finals in Providence, R.I. Colin Dorgan’s mother and brother, Rhonda Dorgan and Aidan Dorgan, were fatally shot during a targeted attack at a hockey game in Pawtucket, Rhode Island last month. His grandfather, Gerald Dorgan, also passed away from injuries sustained during the incident. The shooter, identified as Robert Dorgan, took his own life after the attack. The team returned to the ice earlier this month after a postponement of all Rhode Island high school sports following the tragic event, with players wearing jerseys bearing hearts and the initials of the deceased family members. Colin Dorgan, wearing a patch honoring his lost loved ones, sealed a playoff victory by scoring in double overtime against Portsmouth, expressing that it was a significant moment in his life. Law enforcement stated that the shooter specifically targeted family members, and several individuals swiftly intervened to stop the attack. Linda Dorgan, Rhonda Dorgan’s mother, and family friend Thomas Geruso were also injured during the shooting incident.
