Dennis Haskins, famously known for his role as principal Richard Belding in the popular TV series “Saved by the Bell,” has passed away at the age of 75, as confirmed by his agent Jay Schachter in a statement to CBC News.

Expressing sorrow over the loss, Schachter praised Haskins, emphasizing his warm relationship with fans and describing him as a cherished client and friend for more than two decades.

Haskins gained widespread recognition for portraying the affable and just principal of Bayside High, Mr. Belding, who was known for his iconic catchphrase, “Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?” The actor, born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, initially portrayed Mr. Belding on Disney Channel’s “Good Morning, Miss Bliss,” which later evolved into the renowned NBC series “Saved by the Bell,” airing from 1989 to 1993.

Following the success of the show, Haskins reprised his role in spin-offs such as “Saved by the Bell: The New Class” and a memorable sketch on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in 2015, alongside former co-stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Elizabeth Berkley, Mario Lopez, and Tiffani Thiessen.

In the wake of his passing, his fellow cast members have taken to social media to pay tribute. Thiessen, who portrayed Kelly Kapowski, shared fond memories of Haskins, emphasizing his supportive presence during their time on the show. Lopez, known for his role as A.C. Slater, expressed his sorrow and gratitude for their enduring friendship.

Lark Voorhies, who starred as Lisa Turtle alongside Haskins, described their nearly four-decade-long friendship as a significant blessing in her life, recalling his unwavering kindness and gentle nature.

Haskins’ acting career spanned several decades, beginning with a debut appearance in a 1979 episode of “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Throughout his career, he made notable appearances in various popular television series and films, including “Mad Men,” “Hot in Cleveland,” “New Girl,” and Seth MacFarlane’s “A Million Ways to Die in the West.”
