Lytton reported the highest temperature of 36.8 C, surpassing the previous record of 35.4 C set in 2002. Additionally, communities like Lillooet, Cache Creek, Pemberton, and Port Alberni experienced temperatures exceeding or reaching 35 C, with Pemberton hitting 36.3 C.
The major cities of Vancouver and Victoria also saw record-breaking temperatures, with Vancouver reaching 26.8 C, surpassing the 1932 record by 1.2 C, and Victoria exceeding 30 C, breaking a record set in 1999. The warm weather is expected to continue across much of the province throughout the week.
Other areas that witnessed record high temperatures on Sunday include Tofino, Whistler, Squamish, Sechelt, Qualicum Beach, Powell River, Port Hardy, Nanaimo, Hope, Abbotsford, Campbell River, and Bella Bella.
