Anna Meixner, Ronja Savolainen, Brianne Jenner, and Rebecca Leslie all found the back of the net as the Charge secured a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Goldeneyes in Ottawa. This win marks a historic fifth consecutive win for the Charge franchise. Gwyneth Philips put on a strong performance in goal for Ottawa, making 23 saves.
Vancouver managed to get on the scoreboard with goals from Sophie Jaques and Michelle Karvinen, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Ottawa’s lead. Kristen Campbell made 23 saves for the Goldeneyes.
The Charge took an early lead at 10:12 of the first period when Savolainen capitalized on a rebound from Peyton Hemp’s shot. Meixner extended Ottawa’s lead to 2-0 in the third period with a goal past Campbell’s glove side.
Despite a late surge from Vancouver, including a goal from Jaques, Jenner’s empty-net goal at 18:35 sealed the victory for Ottawa. Leslie added another empty-net goal in the closing seconds of the game.
The Goldeneyes continue to struggle on the road, with only one win in five games this season. Up next, the Charge will face the Boston Fleet in Halifax, while the Goldeneyes will take on the Victoire in Montreal on Sunday.
