Investigators in Arizona are urging residents living near Nancy Guthrie’s residence to provide any surveillance camera footage capturing suspicious vehicles or individuals seen in the month leading up to her disappearance. The request, which covers a three-kilometre radius around the vicinity where Savannah Guthrie’s mother was last seen 12 days ago, was issued by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday.
Residents are asked to submit videos of anything they consider unusual or relevant to the ongoing investigation dating back to the beginning of January. Both federal and local law enforcement officials have been conducting thorough searches in Tucson neighborhoods surrounding 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie’s home. They are also exploring potential leads near her other daughter’s residence, which she had visited shortly before vanishing.
Several pieces of evidence, including a pair of gloves, have been recovered and are currently under analysis, according to the sheriff’s department. Additionally, authorities temporarily erected a tent at Nancy Guthrie’s entrance where traces of her blood were found early in the investigation. A doorbell camera at the site captured images of a masked individual on the night she went missing. The FBI has now identified this person as a suspect and released updated descriptors, including height and a distinct black backpack model.
The FBI has increased the reward for information on Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance to $100,000 US, hoping that the updated suspect description will focus public tips received thus far. The agency emphasized the significance of public cooperation in shedding light on the case, as thousands of tips have been received since Guthrie went missing on February 1. Authorities have confirmed that Guthrie was abducted and is in need of several medications for her well-being. Savannah Guthrie, the host of the “Today” show, expressed unwavering hope for her mother’s safe return, sharing a nostalgic video clip on social media to keep the public engaged in the search efforts.
FBI agents have been actively scouring the area, combing through Nancy Guthrie’s property and neighboring locations. They have been seen canvassing the vicinity, conducting interviews, and gathering potential evidence. Neighbors have been cooperative, sharing any information or footage that could assist in the investigation. Despite the family’s willingness to cooperate and consider paying a ransom, the authenticity of any ransom notes received remains uncertain.
