The Canadian-produced hockey drama series, “Heated Rivalry,” has added three new cast members for its upcoming second season, intensifying the buzz around the show. The first season, consisting of six episodes, gained global popularity and boosted the careers of its main actors: Hudson Williams, Connor Storrie, and François Arnaud. The latest additions to the cast, announced recently, include:
– Milla Jovovich, renowned for her roles in the “Resident Evil” series and “The Fifth Element.”
– Kevin Zegers, known for his work in “Gossip Girl,” “The Madison,” and “Transamerica.”
– Paul Gross, a prominent figure in Canadian film and television, recognized for his roles in “Due South” and his directorial work on “Men With Brooms” and “Passchendaele.”
The series, inspired by Nova Scotia author Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” books, revolves around the clandestine romance between two competitive ice hockey players, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Paul Gross will portray the hockey league commissioner, Roger Crowell, while Kevin Zegers will play Coach Wiebe of the Ottawa Centaurs, the team Rozanov joins in the new season. Milla Jovovich will take on the character of Dr. Galina Molchalina, a therapist aiding Rozanov.
Additionally, the show will welcome back Season 1 actors like Robbie G.K., Sophie Nélisse, Christina Chang, and Dylan Walsh. The second season will also feature a lineup of Canadian talents, including Charlie Gillespie, Daniel Diemer, Emily Hampshire, and Priyanka.
Filming for the new season commenced on August 17, and fans can anticipate the premiere on Crave in Spring 2027. Despite its success, “Heated Rivalry” is ineligible for this year’s Primetime Emmys, but it secured numerous accolades at the Canadian Screen Awards, with Williams winning the best lead performer award.
