The Israeli military did not immediately comment on these incidents. At Gaza’s largest hospital, Al Shifa, grieving relatives gathered to bid farewell to the deceased. Mukhlis Al-Malahi, holding his young son, recounted how they were on their way back from a relative’s wedding when an Israeli aircraft targeted the police vehicle they were near.
Later that day, an Israeli airstrike near a cafe in the Beach camp in western Gaza City resulted in the deaths of at least five people and injuries to several others, as reported by health officials. The Israeli military stated that the strike targeted a Hamas militant. In another incident, Israel’s military reported killing an armed militant who approached the armistice line with Hamas in northern Gaza.
The ceasefire, which commenced in October, ended two years of intense conflict but left Israeli forces controlling a significant portion of Gaza. Israeli forces have been targeting Hamas-led police and security personnel, leading to dozens of casualties, according to Hamas officials in Gaza. Israel asserts that its actions are aimed at preventing attacks by Hamas and other militant groups.
Since the ceasefire agreement was implemented, over 750 Palestinians have lost their lives, as per Gaza’s Health Ministry, while four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants, according to Israeli authorities. Palestinians claim that Israeli forces are expanding the territory they occupy, an assertion denied by Israel.
