“Iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour Arrives in Canada”

The FIFA World Cup Trophy is set to arrive in Canada as part of its tour leading up to the summer soccer extravaganza. The trophy will be showcased in various cities including Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Montreal, Halifax, Ottawa, and Toronto from April 9 to May 26. This year’s 48-team tournament will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States and will take place from June 11 to July 19.

The FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour commenced on January 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with former Italian football star Alessandro Del Piero unveiling the prestigious trophy. The current trophy was introduced in 1974 to replace the Jules Rimet Trophy, which was originally presented in 1930 and was permanently awarded to Brazil after their third World Cup win in 1970.

Crafted from 18-karat solid gold, the trophy stands at 14.5 inches tall and weighs 13.6 pounds. Its base, measuring 5.1 inches in diameter, features two semi-precious green malachite bands that have undergone multiple restorations, including a new layer of gold plating. Since 2006, the original trophy has only been presented to the winning team during the official ceremony, with the winning country receiving an exact replica.

Engraved on the trophy’s base are the names of all the winning teams since 1974. The tour dates for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Trophy stops in Canada are as follows:
– April 9-11: Vancouver
– April 12: Calgary
– April 13: Winnipeg
– May 22: Montreal
– May 23: Halifax
– May 24: Ottawa
– May 25-26: Toronto

Fans and soccer enthusiasts across Canada will have the opportunity to see the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy up close during its nationwide tour.
