Canadian ski jumper Abigail Strate clinched the bronze medal in the women’s ski jumping World Cup event held on Wednesday. Hailing from Calgary, Strate accumulated 222.3 points in the normal hill competition, securing her fourth World Cup medal of the season, comprising one gold, two silver, and the recent bronze.
Previously, Strate had claimed three medals in the large hill category, which is making its debut at the upcoming Milano-Cortina Games. Austria’s Lisa Eder and Slovakia’s Nika Prevc outperformed Strate, finishing ahead of her with scores of 227.9 and 226.5 points, respectively.
Reflecting on her performance, Strate expressed contentment, particularly highlighting her qualifying jump after a brief competition break. She emphasized enjoying the jumping experience and eagerly anticipating the upcoming events in the season.
At 24 years old, Strate is gearing up for her second Olympic participation scheduled for February in Italy. In the 2022 Games, she secured the 23rd position in the individual normal hill event and bagged a bronze medal in the mixed team event.
