“Alberta Farmer Delivers Rare Triplet Calves”

In the early hours following the New Year’s countdown in Alberta, Stacey Simpson, owner of Lucky 7 Cattle Co., found herself in disbelief as she witnessed an unexpected event on her farm near Sedgewick, Alta. Shortly into 2026, Simpson’s five-year-old heifer, Dukey, displayed signs of labor, a development not entirely surprising to the experienced cattle farmer. However, what took Simpson by surprise was that Dukey continued to exhibit symptoms after giving birth to two calves.

As Simpson was about to leave the maternity pen, her father suggested checking on Dukey again. To their amazement, a third calf was on the way, requiring Simpson to intervene to assist in the delivery. The triplets, named Carla, Darla, and Marla, were successfully born, defying the odds as triplet calves rarely survive.

This is not the first time Lucky 7 Cattle Co. has welcomed a set of thriving triplets. Just the previous year, Dukey’s mother gave birth to another trio, Hewey, Dewey, and Louie, who are still part of the farm’s herd. Simpson recalled that their birth was even more remarkable as all three calves were born without complications.

Kylie Simpson, Stacey’s sister and fellow farmer at Lucky 7, emphasized the rarity of such an occurrence, considering they only manage a small herd of 35 cows. The decision on the future of the triplets at the farm, whether they will be retained for breeding or sold, is yet to be determined.

For now, Stacey Simpson is enjoying the attention these unique events have brought to Lucky 7 Cattle Co., with a video featuring the triplets gaining significant traction on social media platforms. The heartwarming story of Carla, Darla, and Marla has captured the interest of viewers worldwide, further enhancing the farm’s online presence.
