Jack Osbourne reassured fans that his father Ozzy’s AI avatar project will be done tastefully, addressing concerns raised after the announcement. The family disclosed the initiative to create a life-sized AI avatar of the late Black Sabbath frontman at the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas. The avatar, developed in collaboration with tech firms Hyperreal and Proto Hologram, aims to capture Ozzy’s voice, image, and movements digitally.
Following Ozzy’s passing last year, his family expressed excitement about the advanced technology that allows for the accurate recreation of his likeness. Jack Osbourne highlighted the detailed nature of the avatar, emphasizing its authenticity and ease of use in various applications. Sharon Osbourne shared plans to take the AI-generated hologram of Ozzy worldwide, comparing it to the enduring legacy of Elvis Presley.
The project draws parallels to previous holographic recreations of iconic figures like Stan Lee and Michael Jackson. Despite some backlash faced by similar initiatives in the past, including a holographic Amy Winehouse tour that was ultimately canceled, the Osbourne family is moving forward with the Ozzy avatar deployment in the U.S. and U.K. through interactive touchscreens known as Proto Luma units.
