Canada’s Laurie Blouin claimed the top spot at a World Cup women’s snowboard slopestyle competition held in Aspen, Colorado. Despite starting in sixth place, the Quebec City native delivered a remarkable final run, earning a score of 81.21 to secure victory. This win signifies Blouin’s third career World Cup slopestyle triumph and her 14th podium finish. It also marks her first World Cup win since March 2022.
Blouin entered the final competition with confidence, while fellow athletes were vying for spots in the upcoming Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina, Italy. Reflecting on her performance, Blouin expressed her approach, stating, “I was just here to have fun and not have any pressure, and that’s what I did. I’m pretty much qualified for the Olympics, so I came here to just get the nerve back.”
In the women’s event, Japanese snowboarders Mari Fukada and Kokomo Murase secured the silver and bronze medals, with scores of 77.26 and 75.36, respectively. On the men’s side, Francis Jobin from Quebec City led the Canadian contingent, finishing in 12th place. The men’s competition saw Jake Canter of the United States clinch the gold medal, followed by Yiming Su in second place and Dane Menzies of New Zealand in third.
