Vancouver Landfill to Operate 20 More Years

The Vancouver Landfill in Delta, B.C., originally scheduled for closure in 2030, will now operate for an additional 20 years due to increased capacity from ground settlement. Paul Henderson from Metro Vancouver’s Solid Waste Services stated that this extension will result in $300 million in savings for residents and businesses. While plans for waste disposal beyond 2050 are uncertain, potential options include transporting trash to B.C.’s Interior or the United States.
