“Sirens Triumph Over Victoire in Thrilling PWHL Match”

In a thrilling match in Newark, N.J., Anna Bargman notched her first PWHL goal, and Kristyna Kaltounkova netted the decisive goal to lead the New York Sirens to a 4-3 victory over the Montreal Victoire. Bargman’s goal came late in the opening period, leveling the score after Laura Stacey put Montreal ahead just 3:47 into the game. The rookie, a fifth-round selection from Yale, where she sits fourth on the all-time goals list, earned her first PWHL point in the previous game against the Goldeneyes.

Kristin O’Neill added her second goal of the season for New York, but Marie-Philip Poulin responded with a power play goal for the Victoire. Kaltounkova extended her scoring streak to four games, giving the Sirens a 3-2 lead. Paetyn Levis capitalized on a pass from Sarah Fillier to extend New York’s advantage midway through the final period.

Despite a late goal from Natalie Mlynkova for Montreal, deflecting Abby Roque’s shot into the net, the Victoire couldn’t find an equalizer in the waning moments. Sirens’ goalie Kayle Osborne made a career-best 42 saves, while Sandra Abstreiter of Montreal stopped 17 shots.

Next up, the Victoire will host Minnesota on Sunday, while the Sirens are set to visit Toronto on January 6.
