“New York Sirens Secure 2-0 Victory Over Vancouver”

Kristýna Kaltounková opened the scoring early in the game, while Savannah Norcross secured a late goal, and goalie Kayle Osborne earned a shutout as the New York Sirens triumphed over the Vancouver Goldeneyes with a 2-0 victory on Wednesday.

Scoring for the third consecutive game and the fourth time this season, Kaltounková netted a goal just 1:21 into the first period, giving New York (4-0-0-5) the initial lead.

The top draft pick this year from Colgate University and the Czech Republic, Kaltounková received an assist from rookie Anna Bargman — her first assist — to beat goalie Emerance Maschmeyer on the glove side.

New York extended their lead to 2-0 in the third period when Norcross, a second-year forward, scored her first career goal at 4:39. Emmy Fecteau and Kayla Vespa both earned their first assists of the season.

Osborne, the sole starting goalie this season, made 27 saves for the Sirens. This marks Osborne’s second shutout this season and her first since the season opener with a 4-0 win over Ottawa.

Last season as a rookie, Osborne recorded one shutout against Ottawa in eight starts and 10 appearances.

Maschmeyer made 24 saves for the Goldeneyes (2-1-1-5), who are still seeking their first away win of the season.

New York failed to convert on all five power play opportunities, while Vancouver missed all four chances and has now gone eight consecutive power plays without scoring.
