U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had agreed to participate in Trump’s Board of Peace initiative, which aims to address global conflicts. However, Putin quickly responded, stating that the invitation was still under consideration.
During a press briefing at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump confirmed, “He was invited. He’s accepted,” following a meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte. Shortly after Trump’s statement, Putin informed the Russian security council that the foreign ministry was still reviewing the proposal and would provide a response in due time.
Trump justified the inclusion of Russia in the board by emphasizing the importance of involving all nations, particularly those led by influential leaders. He acknowledged having controversial figures on board but emphasized their effectiveness and significant impact in getting things accomplished.
