Tegan Quin, known for being one half of the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed as a writer to Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, titled “Wiccan & Hulking: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. The comic showcases the beloved gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling along with their families, emphasizing the significance of community and bonds during challenging times.
In the story penned by Quin and illustrated by Luciano Vecchio, the narrative revolves around twins Wiccan and Speed, who join forces to combat Ultron while navigating the complexities of their divergent paths as siblings. Quin expressed her excitement about writing for characters like Wiccan and Speed, stating that her Marvel debut with this story is not only thrilling but also feels truly enchanting. She added that the experience of defeating an Ultron in the narrative was cathartic, drawing parallels to encounters she has had in the music industry.
Apart from Quin, the comic will also feature contributions from writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, along with artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Based in Vancouver, Quin is also endorsing Loghan Paylor’s novel “The Cure for Drowning” on the Canada Reads platform in 2026.
Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian celebrities select a book they believe the entire nation should read. The contenders advocate for their chosen books over four days, eliminating one daily until a winner is determined. The 2026 edition is scheduled to take place from April 13 to 16.
Throughout their career, Tegan and Sara have released 10 studio albums, featuring popular tracks such as “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” Their music has garnered widespread acclaim, including Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for prestigious accolades like the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the twins expanded their writing ventures from music to literature with the release of their joint memoir, “High School,” and the middle-grade graphic novel series titled “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. Additionally, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and investments in 2SLGBTQ+ communities, leading to them receiving the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
