Taylor Swift has announced her collaboration with the upcoming fifth installment of the beloved “Toy Story” franchise. The renowned singer-songwriter will contribute an original track titled “I Knew It, I Knew You” to the film’s soundtrack, set to release on June 5.
Swift teased her involvement in the project through a clever countdown on her official website, featuring imagery of the iconic “Toy Story” character Jessie and a billboard adorned with her initials in the movie’s distinctive font. Fans were quick to connect the dots when Pixar shared a video on Instagram showcasing a TS billboard alongside Jessie dancing on top, accompanied by a reference to Swift’s hit song “Shake it Off.”
The excitement reached new heights as eagle-eyed fans spotted 13 clouds on the billboard, a nod to Swift’s favorite number. Further sleuthing revealed subtle nods to the singer across various platforms, including updated album artwork on streaming services featuring clouds reminiscent of the Pixar universe.
This venture into animation isn’t unfamiliar territory for Swift, who previously lent her voice to the character Audrey in the 2012 film “The Lorax.” Additionally, she made a cameo appearance as herself in Disney’s animated series “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb.”
“Toy Story 5” is scheduled to premiere on June 19, reuniting audiences with beloved characters like Woody and Buzz as they face a new challenge posed by technology.
