British comedian Russell Brand entered a plea of not guilty on Tuesday to fresh charges of sexual assault and rape. These new allegations come on top of existing charges he faces involving four women. The incidents in question reportedly occurred in 2009, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Initially charged in April with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault, Brand, aged 50, has consistently denied all accusations. Prosecutors disclosed that the claims involve four women and span from 1999 to 2005, with one incident in Bournemouth and three in London. Brand previously pleaded not guilty to these charges in a London court earlier this year.
A trial is set for June and anticipated to run for four to five weeks. A hearing is scheduled next month to determine if the new allegations should be consolidated with the ongoing case, with Brand’s legal counsel citing the need for additional time to address the latest accusations.
Arriving at court on Tuesday donning a white cowboy hat and sunglasses, Brand, who publicly announced his conversion to Christianity in 2024, expressed feeling “blessed” when questioned by reporters. Brand, a familiar face on British television in the 2000s known for his extravagant style, served as a BBC radio presenter.
The actor from “Get Him To The Greek,” recognized for his provocative standup performances, has battled substance abuse issues and retreated from mainstream media in recent times. He has attracted a significant online following through videos discussing wellness, conspiracy theories, and his religious beliefs.
