Morrigan Daniels-Dion is currently mourning the loss of her five-year-old daughter, Lilith Eskilson Daniels-Dion White, who tragically passed away in a collision involving a stolen pickup truck. The incident occurred on a highway south of Cold Lake on Jan. 13, where the minivan carrying Daniels-Dion’s family was struck. A 34-year-old Bonnyville man has been charged by the RCMP with various offenses related to the accident.
While Morrigan, her partner Chase John, and their 10-month-old daughter Charlie survived the crash, they are facing emotional and physical challenges. Morrigan, who is hospitalized in Edmonton, expressed profound grief and distress over the loss of her child. She is undergoing treatment for multiple injuries, including broken ankles, a broken tibia, and broken ribs. Chase John also sustained severe injuries, such as broken femurs and ribs.
The devastating news of Lilith’s passing has deeply impacted the Frog Lake community, where a vigil was held to honor the young girl’s life. More than 200 community members, friends, and family gathered to show their support and offer condolences. The school community, including students and staff, came together to remember Lilith, decorating the school gym with tributes and messages of love.
Despite the immense pain and loss, Morrigan and her family have received overwhelming support from the community, with many offering assistance and comfort during this difficult time. The outpouring of love and generosity has been a source of strength for the grieving family, who expressed gratitude for the support they have received.
Plans are underway to commemorate Lilith’s memory, including naming a yurt at the First Nation’s language camp in her honor. The community remains united in their efforts to provide care and support to the grieving family as they navigate through this heartbreaking tragedy.
