Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a misattached second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor to the vehicle structure. This defect could compromise the second-row seat belt system, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. Stellantis reported one injury associated with the recall but no fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 in other regions outside of North America. Stellantis will inform affected vehicle owners to contact dealers for inspection scheduling. Dealers will examine the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchor and, if necessary, securely attach it to the vehicle’s body structure.
