“Trump Slams U.S. Olympians as Unpatriotic at Milan Games”

President Donald Trump criticized American Olympians who have spoken out against administration policies, questioning their patriotism and labeling one athlete as “a real Loser” who should not have represented the country. This incident is part of a trend where U.S. Olympians, particularly at the Milan Cortina Games, faced backlash for expressing their views.

During a news conference, U.S. athletes were asked about their feelings regarding the current administration’s immigration policies. Freestyle skier Hunter Hess, acknowledging mixed emotions, stated that he competes in Milan not just for himself but for everyone who supported his journey to the Games. He emphasized that wearing the American flag does not mean endorsing every aspect of the country’s actions.

Following Hess’ comments, various individuals, including Jake Paul, criticized the athlete for his stance. Trump joined the criticism, stating that it is challenging to support Hess if he does not represent the U.S. in the Winter Olympics as claimed.

Other athletes, like freestyle skier Chris Lillis and figure skater Amber Glenn, also voiced their discontent with aspects of U.S. policy. The athletes’ comments drew criticism from conservative figures on social media, leading to a wave of negative responses, including threats and hateful messages directed at the athletes.

In response to the escalating online abuse, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee issued a statement expressing support for Team USA athletes and condemning the harmful messages directed at them. The Committee affirmed its commitment to the well-being and safety of the athletes both on and off the field.

Meanwhile, anti-ICE protests have erupted in Italy amidst the presence of ICE agents supporting security at the Milano-Cortina Olympics. These protests reflect broader discontent with the Trump administration’s foreign policy decisions, including tariffs, military interventions, and aggressive stances on various issues.

During the opening ceremony, Team USA athletes received both support and criticism from the crowd, with some demonstrating against the presence of ICE agents. In Milan, demonstrations against ICE agents have escalated, with clashes between protesters and law enforcement occurring during recent protests.
