Taylor Swift has emerged as the top artist on Spotify’s inaugural list of the most streamed artists ever, which was released on Thursday morning. Following closely behind is Puerto Rican sensation Bad Bunny. This development is not surprising, considering that in 2025, Bad Bunny was named Spotify’s most played artist of the year for the fourth time, surpassing Swift.
The competition for the top spot between the two artists has been ongoing. Swift held the top position for the previous two years, while Bad Bunny dominated from 2020 to 2023. Following Swift and Bad Bunny in the ranking of Spotify’s most streamed artists of all time are Drake, The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Eminem, Kanye West, Travis Scott, BTS, Post Malone, Bruno Mars, J Balvin, Rihanna, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Juice WRLD, in that order.
Spotify did not disclose details about its data collection process when queried by The Associated Press. Alongside the announcement of its top streamed artists globally, Spotify also compiled lists of its most streamed albums, songs, podcasts, and audiobooks to commemorate its 20th anniversary.
Streaming plays a pivotal role in the music industry’s revenue generation, accounting for 82% in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Spotify, established in Sweden in April 2006, holds the position as the largest platform. It commands over 31% of the total market share, with a reported user base of 751 million and 290 million subscribers across more than 184 markets.
Some of Spotify’s most streamed albums of all time include Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti,” The Weeknd’s “Starboy,” Ed Sheeran’s “÷ (Deluxe),” Olivia Rodrigo’s “SOUR,” and others. Additionally, the platform’s most streamed songs of all time feature tracks like The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather,” and more.
