Two nurses are facing criminal charges over bragging about murdering Israeli patients at their hospital.

One of the health workers had allegedly claimed to have killed patients hailing from Israel already at Bankstown Hospital in Sydney, New South Wales. Since the outbreak of war in Gaza, there has been a wave of anti-Semitic attacks against Jews in Australia, including attacks on synagogues. In one incident, police found a list of Jewish targets inside an explosive-laden caravan.

The nurses’ hateful outbursts were recorded on Chatruleka, a video chat platform. Both of them were wearing their uniforms at the time. They were chatting with Jewish content creator Max Veifer, but when they learned he was an Israeli, one nurse said she would not treat his countrymen and women should they show up at the hospital.

“I won’t treat them, I’ll kill them,” she said. The male nurse added: “Eventually you’re going to get killed and you’re going to go to (hell).” The female nurse said that it’s “Palestine’s country, not your country. One day your time will come … you will die the most disgusting death”. The man added: “You have no idea how many Israeli … came to this hospital and … I send them to (hell).”

The content creator took the conversation and reposted it on his TikTok page, quickly sparking outrage. “This morning Bankstown Police Area Command launched an investigation into the video that has circulated widely on social media,” the New South Wales police said in a statement.

“Officers attached to Strike Force Pearl have now taken carriage of the investigation. NSW Health believes they have identified the individuals involved and are currently assisting detectives with their investigation.”

At 7.20am local time, the TikTok video was forwarded on to New South Wales health minister Ryan Park, with the two nurses being sacked by 10am. Mr Park called it a “vile, disgusting act”, reassuring the Jewish community they would get “first class” care in the hospitals of Australia.

Mark Butler, the state’s health minister, said that every health worker has to care for “whomever comes before you”. “The idea that you would single out a particular group in our community and indicate you would not care for them runs against every single principle in our healthcare system. At a time of unprecedented antisemitism in our country, this is a particularly sickening video,” he said.
