Heineken UK has recalled bottles of its Newcastle Brown Ale over fears they could contain shards of glass.

The bottles that are included in the recall are 550ml in size and have a best before date of November 30, 2025. The batch codes to look out for are: L4321, L4322, L4323, L4324, L4325, L4326. If you have bought a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale and it matches the details above, do not drink it – return it to the store where you purchased it from for a full refund.

No other best before dates or batch numbers are included in the recall. Newcastle Brown Ale is sold in major supermarkets including Aldi, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons. A product description describes it as having “a distinctive light cereal character described as whole grain, toffee and chocolate”.

Heineken UK said: “Safety is our top priority, and on the basis that a small number of bottles are impacted by this potential safety issue, we are recalling this run of glass bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale as a precaution. We urge those consumers in possession of the product not to drink it, but to return the unopened bottles to where they purchased them for a refund.

“We ask any customers to immediately halt the sale of any stock they hold with these batch numbers. We are providing customers guidance on how to register and return affected stock and ask them to contact our Customer Care team with any additional queries. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working with the regulatory authorities after alerting them of the matter.”

For all product recalls, you can check the Food Standards Agency and Chartered Trading Standards Institute websites. You should also notice recall notices in stores if they’ve pulled a product from shelves. Other recalls you should be aware of include Tesco pulling packs of meat after an incorrect use-by date was used.

Other recalls you may want to be aware of include TriOn Pharma issuing a warning about its Aactive D3 Drops and Aactive D3 Solution because of the labelling error. Too much vitamin D can cause nausea, vomiting, weakness, lethargy, constipation, aches and pains, thirst, polyuria, weight loss and cardiac dysrhythmias, which is an abnormal heartbeat.

The batch code for the drops is LS23317 and the batch code for the solution is LS23318. Both products included in the recall have a best before date of November 2025. The batch code and best before date can be found on the outer box and the bottle label.
