Although there’s never a shortage of fresh new makeup releases hitting the shelves, sometimes you just can’t beat a classic. For the last 40 years the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup has been a cult favourite, particularly in the 90s when shoppers couldn’t get enough of its creamy consistency and full coverage.

If you’re amongst its die-hard fans, or just fancy trying a long time favourite amongst beauty fans, now is the perfect opportunity. Usually priced at £30, the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Cream Foundation is currently on sale on Amazon with prices ranging from £18.75 to £24 depending on your shade.

What makes the Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Cream Foundation so popular is its unusual formula. It’s neither a true cream nor powder, and has a consistency more akin to a stick foundation that’s been pressed into a pan. This means it can create a medium to full coverage result without as much product wastage that you would potentially get from a liquid.

You can use it directly from the pan for a thicker, more heavyweight coverage, or wet the applicator sponge to create a thinner, lighter texture. The Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Cream Foundation is infused with micronised diamond powder which helps reflect light, minimise discolouration and mask fine lines, giving you an even and radiant finish.

The micronised diamond powder scatters light across your face, diffusing the appearance of imperfections including pores, blemishes, scars and dark spots. The cream consistency also means it’s moisturising and well suited for most skin types.

You can choose from 11 different shades on Amazon, whilst directly from the Elizabeth Arden website (where the Flawless Finish Cream Foundation is still £30) there are 12 shades. However, if you buy directly from the website you’ll receive a free full-size White Tea hand Cream on orders over £65.

Amazon shoppers have been praising the Flawless Finish Cream Foundation , with one saying: “Been using this makeup a long time. Never failed me yet. Good cover and great colour. Price is perfect. Had this delivered in 12 hours.”

Another added: “Wow excellent foundation love it, may choose a different shade next time but will still use it does not sit in wrinkles and I’m 58.”

One did mention: “With or without moisture this doesn’t go on easily and feels sticky when applying. The finish doesn’t look as smooth as it does on photos sent in by other purchasers. Won’t buy again as there are easier to apply products out there.”

However a fourth reviewer said: “I used to use this product for years back in the 90s. So excited to have found it again. I chose Toasty Beige , perfect covering, smooth to go on with a sponge and not a heavy final look.”

With yet another writing: “I have never had any Elizabeth Arden cosmetics before. I liked the look of this foundation and after reading the reviews decided to take a chance. I have olive skin and can never get the right shade for me. I have bought expensive and reasonable brands in the past with no luck and end up throwing them out. So after reading a review about the honey beige I ordered it. It’s great, light coverage, soft and silky. I am really impressed and will be buying more products from the range.”

One foundation with a similar formula is the KVD Beauty Good Apple Skin-Perfecting Foundation Balm , which is a balm-like foundation offering full coverage with a natural-looking, lightweight finish. You can also pick up the KVD foundation on sale, with LookFantastic slashing the price from £34 to £27.20.
