BAFTA viewers are already heaping praise on this year’s host, hailing him as the “best fit” for the prestigious role.
The host, who is returning after a successful stint last year, has been lauded for his “natural charisma” with fans optimistic about the direction of the show.
David Tennant‘s fans, familiar with his career, are excited to see him charm the audience once again, and Reddit users are buzzing about his role at this year’s event.
One user expressed their approval, saying Tennant was the “perfect fit” for his first time hosting the BAFTAs. And now, with him at the helm for a second consecutive year, the accolades continue.
Another fan praised his approach, writing: “He was great, he let his natural charisma do most of the heavy lifting and delivered standard awards show jokes of varying quality professionally. These days that is high calibre stuff.”
The same enthusiast also highlighted the ceremony’s strengths, adding: “BAFTAs are close to a winning formula, under two hours, minimal flabby extras, and what is there is fantastic, the three moment combo of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Hannah Waddingham and Michael J Fox was incredible.”
They added a suggestion for improvement: “If they continue to tighten it up in the right directions I’ll be watching every year! First step, swap cinematography and visual effects, cinematography should be main show!”
Another commenter concurred with the positive sentiments, remarking: “To be fair, Tennant is pretty great in everything.” Even those not typically enamoured with Tennant admitted they were won over by his BAFTA performance.
One admirer commented: “Have you watched previous awards? He smashed it out the park and I’m not even a big Tennant fan like that.” The sentiment is strong, with some viewers now preferring the BAFTAs to the Oscars.
A fan expressed: “Definitely prefer BAFTAs over Oscar’s at this point, perfect length and guests. I disagree with most of the awards given out but that’s a separate argument and I doubt the Oscar’s will be much better in that regard.”
Another chimed in with praise for Tennant’s previous hosting stint, writing: “I thought he did a pretty good job. A couple of the jokes didn’t land but that’s par for the course. The best thing they did this year was to scrap the backstage interviews. Those were painful last year to say the least.”
